Turbo usually helps the additional power on the vehicle. A turbo can significantly increase engine power without significantly increasing the weight of the vehicle.
Conventional engines require the mixing of fuel and air to work. The turbo charge to force more air into the intake of the engine cylinder which can be mixed with fuel to produce more power.
Turbo uses energy from the engine exhaust gas to put air into the engine. This turbo device consists of two main parts: the turbine and compressor. Both are closely linked, when one rotates, the other also rotates.
When the fuel burned in the engine, the exhaust gas is forced out of the engine at high pressure, then a twisted tube turbine. This turbine rotates at very high speed, even up to 250,000 RPM and causes the compressor rotates.
It causes more air flow into the engine rather than a non-turbo engine. As a result, greater strength.
Turbo works at immense speed. That is, these devices operate under high pressure and temperature.
To prevent the risk, usually paired with a turbocharger intercooler to cool the air. And, the system also ensures turbo oil cooler is not working too hot.
Indeed, more power is an advantage that the most common use of turbo. However, the excess energy is actually one of the many other advantages.
Another advantage of the turbo engine is fuel efficiency. Turbo engine could generate the same energy with non-turbo engine (commonly called a normally-aspirated). However, with the same energy, the fuel is used even less.
Therefore, many manufacturers to replace larger engines into a small machine but is equipped with a turbo. Ford, for example, the manufacturer has replaced the 1.6-liter petrol engine with a 1.0 liter turbo engine. It generates the same power but better fuel economy.
Turbo also provide greater torque. Typically, torque is available at low rpm.
Not only that, the turbo can make quieter engine performance, thus driving more comfortable. Because, with the turbo, usually the voice of intake can be muted.
